The National’s, MLB’s worst team (43 W, 75 L), were forced to play against Little Leaguers to keep from ruining the MLB playoff race. “We thought we had them. We made them play at our park, with the big fence and bases, agh! It is frustrating,” Manager Jim Riggleman noted. Grant (Mass.) Coach Tom Randolph was thrilled, “I think when we held our own during the bench-clearing brawl (5th inning). That gave us the confidence we needed.”

Local bar owner Rick Landry alerted Eagles security, who detained Vick until police arrived. Police discovered two fighting roosters, three sets of mini boxing gloves, and a book, Fighting Animals for Dummies, in the vehicle. Vick said, “Everyone deserves a second chance…damn, I guess that was it.”

I like Crabtree. He probably is the best rookie WR and many of us want to see him on the field (the 49ers sure should). He has a right to get whatever the market can get him. The 49ers have the right to keep preparing for the season as if he’s not around.

The thing he may be noted for, when all is said and done, is the restructuring of the money paid to rookies. I hope he, and a few more rookies, hold out. Maybe finally the NFL will re-do the pay structure and give them ALL what they really deserve their first year (ie., not much). Prove it year one, and negotiate year two – now that would be nice.
